Buchloh, Foster, Serra, Sze

three headshots in black and white: the white longhair fringe matching the bushy white eyebrows marking this gruff and jowly white guy's face can only be benjamin buchloh, who's looked that perturbed since not buying his loft in soho in the 80s; sarah sze's clear skin piercing gaze, workday updo with one curl falling down on each side, would like this picturetaking done, deborah finegold, so she can get back to the studio; and the somehow still cherubic bald marxist grin of hal foster with his mouth ever so slightly open, seems about to say something problematizing to photographer annette hornischer. images via gagosian dot com

Richard Serra’s Running Arcs (For John Cage), 1992, three giant, steel arcs, fills Gagosian’s 21st St gallery now, until December 20th. On September 27th, Sarah Sze will discuss the sculpture with Benjamin Buchloh. Their conversation will be moderated by Hal Foster. Perhaps they’ll discuss whether the John Cage connection goes beyond him dying a month before the sculpture first went on view.
